Wouldn't it be nice if the WT followed such scriptural admonition!

(Matthew 7:1-5)
by John Doe in7 "stop judging that you may not be judged; 2 for with what judgment you are judging, you will be judged; and with the measure that you are measuring out, they will measure out to you.
3 why, then, do you look at the straw in your brothers eye, but do not consider the rafter in your own eye?
4 or how can you say to your brother, allow me to extract the straw from your eye; when, look!

OK which one of you knows Pete and Mary- my neighbors
by lrkr inwe had our lovely across the street neighbors over about a month ago.
somehow, after a little wine and margaritas, the subject got onto religions.
they asked what religion we are (a baited question- they've watched us pile into the car 3-5 times a week wearing a suit for a few years).

Also congratulations on making non-Witness friends. I've found that while there are challenges, rebuilding a life after the WT can be both fun and liberating.

Congratulations on publicly acknowledging being in the former Witness category! That's a freeing and healing step all on its own.

My wife has Paranoid Personality Disorder
by Witness 007 inmy wife accused me of putting sleeping pills in her tea so i could turn her best friend against her???
she says everyone at work is against her so one saturday she quit and went to another city {her mums}sydney to start a new life.....she found it to be alot more expensive so she asked me if she could come back.
i told her it's half her house and she can come and go as she wants.....then she asked me to buy her a plane ticket back since she blew her last paycheck {$900} on clothes and laser hair removal.

So sorry you're going through this. Since she seems to be close to her brother, is there a way you can work with members of her family to do some kind of intervention? If the people she trusts the most work together, maybe she will listen. Especially if she is reassured by everyone that they are concerned about her because they love her and want what's best for her. Either way, you may benefit by the support of others who love both of you. Also working with a counselor yourself for help on dealing with this could be useful. Only you can decide if that's best. I wish the best for you.

WOULD JW's READ THIS?
by Mickey mouse ini just posted this to oracle's thread but didn't want to hijack it so i thought i'd start my own.
i think emails are a potentially effective way of conveying information to jw's, they love firing them off to all their friends.
could we get some information in under the radar in this manner...?.

I agree that most JW's don't realize that other groups also claim to be the sole channel of truth in the world. That came as a real shock to me when I left the WT.

new tract campaign next year for the memorial
by bereanbiblestudent injust heard that there will be another tract campaign next year to invite people for the memorial.

And what an impressive meeting that is for interested persons too. Who wouldn't want to be part of an organization that passes around the bread and wine while nobody partakes? That meeting alone should cause a massive influx of new followers.

HELLO, I'M NEW AND.........
by billie jean ini never believed a word of any of it !.
raised a j.w from birth, i'd sit in the meetings and at conventions wondering what the hell it was all about and that it was all one big joke and imagine that they''d all suddenly turn around laughing and pointing at me !!
saying something like "haha the joke's on you".

What If: The UN actually DOES "turn on" and destroy religion?
by inkling inso it stuck me the other day that modern jw prophecy is notnearly as bizarrely cocky as such past gems like the "house ofprinces" (1925?
) or even the 1975 fiasco.
i would seem thatthey have learned the value of the vague.

The following information may shed light on the likelihood of the United Nations destroying religion: In 1948 The United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which says in Article 18, "Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance." And Article 20 further states that, "Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association." Additionally, the UN created the International Covenant of Civil and Political Rights in 1966 which also guarantees freedom of religion. While a few individual countries don't honor these, the UN as an organization believes and promotes it. Ironically some Jehovah's Witnesses have appealed to the UN through it's High Commissioner for Human Rights when they were being persecuted by their home countries. A recent example is from South Korea where JW's were being arrested and sentenced to prison for refusing to submit to a military draft. The UN sided with the JW's. You can find related info about this on the UN's website, the website of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, or by Googling Jehovah's Witnesses UNHCHR. You can see copies of the two treaties mentioned above by Googling Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and International Covenant of Civil and Political Rights.
